Scholarships: Application to Establish a Golden 50 Scholarship Fund

The Elk Grove Community Foundation approved a new project of gathering 50 new endowment scholarships to celebrate Elk Grove Unified School District's 50th anniversary as a unified district.  We set the target date of July 1, 2009, because that is the date in 1959 that unification occurred.  For these special 50 Golden Scholarships, the endowment cost is only $10,000 instead of the normal $15,000.  Once endowed, a scholarship goes on and on -- forever -- awarding a student each year with the interest that accrues.

The application is below, and all we need is your $10,000 check for an endowment that can be any of the following:

• Memorial Scholarships are a great way to preserve the memory of someone who lived in Elk Grove or the surrounding area of south Sacramento County, a graduate of Elk Grove schools, a teacher or administrator, a family member, or a community leader.
  
• Honorary Scholarships can recognize the accomplishments and achievements of a community member or someone who once lived here such as an outstanding athlete who got his/her start here, a leader or activist, a graduate who went on to do great things.
  
• Company Scholarships can be used to recognize a local company that has been here for decades, a way to tell the company's success story, or a way for a new company to market itself and let people know that Elk Grove is where you plan to be forever (including in the name of the scholarship).
  
• Organization Scholarships for social groups, community groups or whatever they are, and they can even include the name of a member who made wonderful contributions to the group.
  
• School Scholarships such as those that are already provided by Laguna Creek High School, Harriet Eddy Middle School, and Franklin High School.

If what you have in mind does not fit any of these categories, we will create a new one for you.
